History of Southside Christian Church
In August of 2005, Pastors Mike & Carol Angell took the next step to fulfill a dream in their heart that God would touch
Western North Carolina through a loving, thriving, accepting local church. Southside Christian Church began that year
with 6 families, faith and that dream.
Our first service was held on the side porch of the Angells' home in East Asheville, NC. Southside continued to worship
there for a total of two months until they relocated the service to the Arden Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Arden, NC.
Three months later, we moved into our first building just down the street. This building is located on 33 Cane Creek
Road in Fletcher, NC,
Southside is now a growing, thriving church family. From very humble beginnings we are now able to minister around the
world. We have a multi-faceted ministry that touches and lifts children, teens, and adults – people from all walks of life as
well as varied cultures and backgrounds. Our ministries bless our community both practically and spiritually. God has
done amazing things for us and through us.
He has especially blessed the worship ministry of Southside Church, where now we are touching His heart each Sunday
with a very contemporary and deeply spiritual worship music style.
Lifting people to higher levels of life is at the at the core of what we are. It is our desire to see people connected to
Jesus, connected to each other, and reaching out to our region and world. Lets live our greatest lives ever, together!

OUR MISSION
At Southside we are committed to helping every Christian grow
closer to Christ and mature in their ministry and personal life by
recognizing their unique needs, destiny and direction of life and
encouraging them to get there with the help of Christ and His
church. We commit to prayer, encouragement, support, and Holy
Spirit direction to each person led to our care. Our desire is to lead
the person to the Word of God for everything they may need.
OUR VISION
Our vision is to let Christ build a large, regional life-giving church
that touches thousands of people and lifts them to higher levels of
life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and renewed
Biblical mindsets. Our method is contemporary Christ- centered
worship, practical biblical preaching and people- oriented ministry
with a focus on reaching out in redeeming love and liberating power.
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe the Bible is verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, the
infallible revelation of God to man. Our approach to Bible study is
more than a historic record and a code for moral conduct. The Bible
is a covenant agreement between God an d His people.
We believe there is only one true, eternal God revealed in three
persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin
birth, sinless life, miracles, sacrificial death to save us from our sins,
and His resurrection and ascension to heaven.
We believe in the personal, imminent return of Jesus Christ to the
earth.

enjoys reading, travel, friends and gadgets. His ministry
has taken him to many far away destinations including 9
different nations. Ministering and teaching in leadership
conferences and churches many people have been

live their lives complete, satisfying and fruitful by the fullness of Gods Holy Spirit taking them to new
levels in their faith. All people have a God given purpose. It is with that in mind, that he desires to
equip people to be all that God has called them to be.
Pastor Carol is a consistent, loving, faithful leader. She loves her family, her friends, prayer,
worship, and shopping! With a heart for God and a love for people she leaves behind her a legacy
of encouragement, destiny and blessing wherever she goes.

We believe in the sinfulness of all mankind and the need of salvation, available only through the blood of Jesus
Christ to all who believe and receive Him as Savior.
We believe the finished work of Christ on the cross provides not only salvation from eternal punishment because of
sin but also healing for the human body.
We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make men
aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the
Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian
seeks to live under His control daily.
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit which is promised to all believers subsequent to salvation as the
entrance into a Spirit-filled life including: a prayer language (speaking in tongues), gifts of the Holy Spirit, and power
to be a witness and anointed servant of God.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved; the saved to everlasting life and the
unsaved to everlasting damnation.
We believe in the church being the body of Christ, and each member being an active part of a local church, fulfilling
the Great Commission being responsible to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery and
pornography are sinful, addictive perversions of God's gift of sexuality. We further believe that God disapproves of
and forbids any attempt to alter one's gender by surgery or appearance. We strongly assert that God will lovingly
help his people to overcome these perversions.
We believe that God has commands that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of marriage between a
man and a woman. We believe that the only legitimate marriage that God approves of is the joining of one man and
one woman.
